Thanksgiving Thoughts, Part One
Each Thanksgiving season, I like to pull some passages of Scripture together to share with the ladies in my small group. I couldn't find the file from last year, and had to start over. This of course proved to be a blessing as all Scripture is profitable.
What follows are some of the Scriptures and my comments.
What motivates us? Psalm 26:7: Proclaiming thanksgiving aloud, and telling of all your wondrous deeds.
What encourages us? Psalm 50:23: The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me, to the one who orders his way rightly, I will show the salvation of God!
What occupies missionaries? Psalm 57:9: I will give thanks to you, O LORD, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations.
What amazes us? Psalm 28:7: The LORD is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my some I give thanks to him.
What warns us? Romans 1:21: For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.

struggles with technology--when they are over, will write a real post, assuming I win and can do a real post after, after all.

from my archives: A Matter of Perspective [not about technology]
It's a matter of perspective, I begin to understand,
To see things as coming from or permitted by God's hand;
And what a hand that proves to be!,
Brings comfort and stability to me.
To see that sovereignty work out through the week--
To see it in providence when I am weak--
When matters appear bleak--
To see it when I seek;
In His Word I see His work and
Find comfort and strength
For today's length--
And that is all I can ask for--
Today.
Today is all, even maybe only this moment,
This minute, this
Heartbeat;
And that is enough.
Today is wrapped in the hand and the plan of
The Eternal
The Unchangeable
The Sovereign
One.

VETERANS' DAY 2008
Three years ago today one of my uncles--a veteran of WW2, a Marine--was promoted to glory. Two days ago another of my uncles--also a WW2 veteran, Navy--entered into that rest. While I remember them, I also appreciate those who serve on this day, in any branch of service. God bless you with His strength. Seek His wisdom and He will grant it.
And then I cannot help but remember other relatives and in-laws who are worthy vets, living and deceased, who served well:
my father-in-law (in glory last year), WW2, Army
Uncle Howie, WW2, Navy
Uncle Vern, WW2, Army
my husband's Uncle Leo, WW2, Navy
my husband's Uncle Dale, Korea, Army
my husband himself, Vietnam (stateside), Army
....and other friends and relatives, too numerous to include.
Gratitude for each on this special day.
