Observing Growth
Watching, and scenting,
The growth of the pine trees;
Seeing the lengthy things which
Remind me of cacti;
Seeing the pine cones forming,
I appreciate this orderly growth
At the time God ordained.
Is there not a corollary in me?
There is a time of gangly-ness,
Spiritual adolescence,
The slow forming of what
A Christian is to be known for;
A scent that is life to some and
Death to others, as Paul wrote:
"But thanks be to God,
Who always leads us in triumph in Christ,
and manifests through us the sweet aroma of
the knowledge of Him in every place.
For we are a fragrance of Christ to God
among those who are being saved and
among those who are perishing;
to the one an aroma from death to death,
to the other an aroma from life to life.
And who is adequate for these things?"
(2 Corinthians 2:14-16; NASB).
